Well Friends!  I have made the journey cross country from Portland, OR to Roanoke, VA!  One of my dearest friends from college is getting married TOMORROW!!  Ah!  I’m so excited!!

I landed last night and woke up bright and early this morning to check out this quilt shop that one of my favorite tumblrs, knotsewtrashy, told me about - it’s about an hour and 20 minute drive from Roanoke and I was there shortly after they opened.  And friends, Sew What Fabrics is NO joke.  The shop is located in a huge old house and the top floor is literally STUFFED with sale fabrics!  I couldn’t even breathe for a minute, I was so overwhelmed!  And it was good sale fabric, too! In fact, most of what is pictured in my ‘fabric score!’ photo was on sale.

Plus, they just had EVERYTHING.  And a million batiks!  I admit, I didn’t get any batiks but there were numerous beautiful ones - especially in this light lavender color that was to die for - but if I had tried to choose, I would still be there, right now.

After I spent a lifetime narrowing down my fabrics (don’t worry, I still did some major bank account damage), I went up the street about a block and had lunch at the Log House Restaurant.  It was delicious, and I’m not much of a foodie so I won’t bore you with details, but check out the sweet Log Cabin quilt they had hanging on the wall!  Ahhh!  It was a wonderful day!

Thank you, knotsewtrashy!  And tomorrow, I’m going to post photos of the quilt I made for my friend that is getting married!!

Happy Weekend to you all!

ROANOKE, VA

Hello Tumblr Friends!!  I’m going to Roanoke, VA for a wedding in June and I gave myself a couple of extra days to check out the area… Does anyone have any quilt shop recommendations for me?!  Or you know, other places, to check out?? (I’ll have a car so give me the goods!)
