It hasn’t quite been a month since I moved into my new apartment but I just made my bathroom curtains today!!  I love them!  The fabric is Cross Stitch Rose in White from the Hope Chest collection by Josephine Kimberling for Blend Fabrics.  The line came out Summer 2012 and I only had the smallest swatch left in my fabric stash - I drove all over Portland & couldn’t find it anywhere.  I hopped online & discovered this amazing Etsy shop.  There was only a yard listed but I messaged the shop owner & was able to get the cut that I needed!!  I had the best experience with my order so if you’re doing some online shopping, please please please (!!!!) check out Skye Reve Fabrics.
Happy Sewing to all of you!

julia-turbo said: We’re doing sparkle punch for our first guild quilt along. Tell me how you like it!

I LOVE it!!  It’s not technically challenging but arranging your blocks is a challenge!  I tossed several blocks (no worries, they’ll make it into a table runner I’m sure) just because it was evident that they really did not belong.  Elizabeth Hartman’s patterns always make me consider my fabric choices whereas other designers’ patterns I feel like ‘anything goes!’  It has been a lot of fun & I’m really excited about this quilt.  I am making it for my niece (due in May) so it is significantly smaller than Elizabeth’s - but I also think it was easy to manipulate the size.  And I’m considering making a full size one for my own bed.  There’s enough going on that I’m not sick of the block construction yet!!

Does your guild have a flickr pool going?  I’d love to follow your progress!!

My friend Katie came over to my new apartment/sewing studio(!!) tonight and used a sewing machine for the very FIRST time!!  I taught her how to make a log cabin block (picture frame - courthouse steps variation) AND SHE NAILED IT!!  I love her fabric choices, and her piecing is perfect!!  I’m so proud of her quilt block & I hope she comes over every Tuesday night to quilt with me!!

“What’s that?!”, you ask!!  MY VERY OWN DESIGN WALL!  Have all of my dreams come true?!  Yep!  Just about!
Thank you all for your sweet messages - I’m sorry I’ve been MIA!  I have had a wonderful month so far!  I moved into my own apartment and I am still getting settled - but the best part?  I get to decide how it’s lived in.  My living room is 75% sewing studio and 25% “living room”.  I’ve got my grandmother’s lovely chair (shown) and a turquoise couch (HA!!  Because I can have whatever I want!!) and the rest is devoted to everything I need for quilting!
Up on the design wall is a baby quilt in progress that I’m making for my favorite niece due in May!!  I’m using Elizabeth Hartman’s Sparkle Punch pattern found here.  I love it more than you know!
I love you all and I will be much better about posting now that I’ve got an Internet connection & a sewing studio!  Happy Quilting!!
